About Norske terningspill

Runar outdoors on a cold Norwegian winter day

My name is Runar and I make norske-terningspill.no. I am also behind nordiccardgames.com, a site with card game rules. Dice games were a natural next step. The equipment is simple, the rules are easy to learn, and most people have a few dice in a drawer somewhere.

I live in Trondheim, Norway, with my family. With several kids in the house there are regular game nights, and dice games are among the easiest to get going. Five dice, a score sheet and a pencil is all it takes for a round of Yatzy at the kitchen table.

I made this site because I missed a simple place with good rules for dice games. Many of the games exist in countless variants, so the rules here describe the games as they are usually played in Norway, with well-known variants mentioned along the way.

How the rules are prepared

The goal is always to give you a complete, playable ruleset. When a game has several variants, I describe the main version clearly and include notable differences, alternative names and useful house rules. Every rules page has a visible update date, so you can see when the content was last reviewed.

All the rules are also available in Norwegian, and if you like card games you will find them at nordiccardgames.com.
